Kitty Cat Series (Acrylic on Canvas, 11″x14″)
$35
This painting actually came about in an interesting way way. One day I saw my cat waiting at the sliding glass door to be let in and I thought it was a great composition, so I filed it away in my memory for later. A few weeks later I was at the Persiani’s, my friends, and Em says, “You gotta come check this out. My grandma left me all of these canvases and I have no idea what to do with him. Do you want them?” It was a gold mine and a few of the canvases were the perfect proportion for the cat I wanted to do. I went home that first night and did the first one.
After I made a stencil, I started playing with around with it. The fist few were garbage, but I needed them to figure out how to do it right. I have to say a lot of the inspiration came from my friend Ryan. He’s an artist whose skills lie all across the board, but it is the style in which he mainly tattoos that inspired a lot of my choices for the cat heads.
When I was finished, I gave one to Em and one to Ryan. The rest are hanging in my room, but they’re growing bored and looking for a new roommate.
